1.5 volt battery life8/27/2023 Here are several graphs comparing the voltage output of different batteries as they discharge at different loads: Īs you can see, alkaline batteries actually average about 1.2 volts over their discharge cycle. 1.5v and 1.2v are nominal voltages, which is basically a value assigned to a circuit or system to designate its voltage class. The voltage drops as the battery discharges, and it also drops due to internal resistance as the load increases. In actuality, a cell doesn’t deliver a constant voltage. The common misconception is that alkaline cells deliver 1.5v and NiMH cells deliver 1.2v. I've seen several myths being posted about this around here and I thought I would try and clear some things up.
